Hill House is a nice small inn at the halfway point on the Bourbon Trail. (Maker's Mark is in Loretto.) The innkeeper, Lisa Marie, does a wonderful job of making you comfortable from the time you walk in the door. Wine, cheese and crackers are available each afternoon or there were corkscrews, glasses, etc if you brought your own. There is a very nice patio area outside the back door and a small porch off the 2nd floor. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and stayed with you until mid-afternoon. You definitely can skip lunch. Breakfasts were varied and over my visit there were no repeats. One treat was a pawpaw and banana salad. Had never had pawpaw before. It's good. If you're in the area I'd recommend staying at this B&B.
The Hill House was a wonderful and relaxing place to stay, Lisa is delightful, helpful and well educated on the area. My only regret is a last minute flight change meant we had to leave well before dawn missing out on what sounded like a mouth watering southern breakfast. However, we will return and look forward to that breakfast next time.
Stayed July 2013, traveled as a couple
My husband and I came into town for a wedding and spent one night at The Hill House. It was a fantastic experience! The house itself is beautiful, with gorgeous antique furnishings as well as many modern touches. As soon as we arrived, Lisa Marie showed us around the house, then laid out a very nice spread of wine and cheese for us to enjoy before we left to go to the wedding. We really appreciated this, as we had just spent about seven hours in the car! Our bed was very comfortable and the house was very quiet, so we had a great night of sleep. When we woke up in the morning, there was a delicious gourmet breakfast ready for us. Our hostesses could not have been more friendly or charming. This is a truly wonderful place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. You will definitely enjoy staying at The Hill House!
